Gwangjin-gu 'Back to Twenty, 50+ Wise University Life' Program Operation

Education Starts from April 17, Customized Specialized Education for Middle-aged Adults (Ages 50 to 64) Now Open for Registration on the District Website

Agreement Signed with Konkuk University and Sejong University to Offer 10 Programs This Year



Gwangjin-gu (District Mayor Kim Kyung-ho) is partnering with Konkuk University and Sejong University to support a customized specialized education program for middle-aged adults called ‘Back to Twenty, 50+ Wise University Life.’


The ‘Customized Specialized Education’ program is designed through mutual cooperation between the district and universities to expand opportunities for self-realization and learning for middle-aged adults (ages 50 to 64) and to strengthen their capabilities.


On the 10th, the district signed a business agreement with Konkuk University and Sejong University to operate ‘Back to Twenty, 50+ Wise University Life,’ which supports life redesign and career development for middle-aged adults.


Under the agreement, the district is responsible for ▲overall management of the 50+ Wise University Life program ▲promotion of the project to Gwangjin-gu residents and recruitment of students, while the universities will ▲develop programs for customized education for middle-aged adults ▲operate expert instructors for each course ▲provide facilities and venues necessary for running the educational programs.

The curriculum is divided into two semesters, reflecting the characteristics and interests of middle-aged adults.


The first semester runs from April to June and offers five courses: ▲Self-understanding through the Enneagram ▲Commercial district location analysis for successful investment ▲Barista training course ▲Professional organizer training course ▲Healthy home party cooking course.


The remaining five courses will be conducted in the second semester, designed based on the satisfaction survey results from the first semester.


The tuition fee ranges from 30,000 to 40,000 KRW per course, and those who complete the program will receive a certificate jointly issued by the Gwangjin District Mayor and the heads of the respective university education centers.

Gwangjin-gu operates a ‘Visiting 50+ Counseling Center,’ providing counseling services directly at the education sites for enrolled students on topics such as job placement, resume writing for reemployment, life redesign education, and volunteer activities.


Kim Kyung-ho, Mayor of Gwangjin-gu, stated, “We have prepared high-quality educational programs in collaboration with academia for middle-aged adults. We hope that through diverse educational opportunities, participants will enjoy learning and take a confident step toward their second chapter of life.”
