Official Cherry Blossom Bloom in Seoul... 14 Days Earlier Than Average

On the 25th, cherry blossoms officially bloomed in Seoul.

The Korea Meteorological Administration announced that cherry blossoms have bloomed in Seoul, as three or more flowers fully opened on a king cherry tree in front of the Seoul Meteorological Observatory in Songwol-dong, Jongno-gu, Seoul.

This year's cherry blossom blooming date in Seoul is 14 days earlier than the average blooming date (April 8). Since cherry blossom observations began in 1922, this is the second earliest bloom on record. The earliest year on record was 2021, when cherry blossoms bloomed on March 24.

Due to the influence of high pressure in February and March, clear and warm days continued, which is believed to have caused the cherry blossoms to bloom early.

Cherry blossoms are blooming earlier than usual across the country. According to seasonal observation data from the Korea Meteorological Administration, cherry blossoms officially bloomed starting in Pohang on the 16th, followed by Busan (19th), Ulleungdo (20th), Daegu and Changwon (21st), Jeju, Jeonju, Ulsan, and Daejeon (22nd), Cheongju, Yeosu, Gwangju, and Andong (23rd), and Seogwipo (24th).
