Volunteer Talent Group Delivers Homemade Side Dishes and Provides Companionship
The Talent Volunteer Group under POSCO Gwangyang Steelworks (Head Lee Jin-su) carried out a ‘Visiting Emotional Education’ program to help severely disabled individuals in the local community adapt socially, embodying the spirit of coexistence with neighbors and spreading warmth to those around them.
On the 23rd, the Dolbogo Salpigo Talent Volunteer Group from Gwangyang Steelworks visited the homes of severely disabled families in the Jungmadong area of Gwangyang City, conducting educational activities to provide emotional support through communication and interaction.

The Dolbogo Salpigo Talent Volunteer Group conducts volunteer activities targeting elderly living alone and underprivileged groups in the Gwangyang area. With a total of 67 members, they share warm compassion with the local community by improving living environments for elderly living alone, carrying out disinfection activities, and engaging in exchange activities with severely disabled individuals in the community, thereby practicing a culture of sharing.
The educational activities held that day were aimed at enhancing the social adaptation of severely disabled individuals in the community who usually have difficulty communicating with neighbors, providing emotional support for them.
In particular, the significance lies in the fact that the volunteer members personally visited welfare centers and each home to conduct the ‘Visiting Emotional Education’ for neighbors with mobility difficulties.
The educational activities were designed as customized programs that allowed disabled individuals to participate in communication, rather than one-sided conversations.
By personally delivering homemade side dish lunchboxes, the volunteers opened the doors of hearts and listened attentively to the voices of disabled individuals, providing positive feedback, which naturally led to conversations.
Thanks to this, the participation of disabled individuals who usually have difficulty communicating was further increased, according to reports.
A volunteer who participated in the emotional education that day said, “Seeing the disabled individuals gain more confidence in communication gave the members a sense of pride,” and added, “We will continue to strive to contribute to creating a warm community where all neighbors can coexist together.”
Meanwhile, Gwangyang Steelworks launched the Talent Volunteer Group in 2014 to utilize the talents of its employees to help neighbors and build a society where people live together harmoniously. Currently, about 2,500 volunteers and 46 volunteer groups are active.
