Cheon Ha-ram, former chairman of the People Power Party’s Suncheon Gap district committee and a member of the 'Lee Jun-seok faction' who ran for party leader in the last party convention, criticized the attitude of Kim Ki-hyun, leader of the People Power Party, regarding the Constitutional Court's ruling upholding the 'complete removal of prosecution’s investigative authority (Geomsu Wanbak)' law, saying he "respects" the decision.
On the 24th, Cheon said on BBS's "Jeon Young-shin's Morning Journal," "I respect the judgment made by the Constitutional Court as it is, and more importantly, it is the attitude of the government and ruling party accepting that judgment."
He added, "Yesterday, Leader Kim referred to the Constitutional Court as a ‘political court, not a constitutional court,’ which I think is a very inappropriate attitude and a case of double standards (naeronambul: ‘romance if I do it, adultery if others do it’). We had strongly criticized the Democratic Party for not accepting the rulings of the courts or the Supreme Court in cases involving Governor Kim Kyung-soo, Prime Minister Han Myeong-sook, and Minister Cho Kuk. If we start to belittle the Constitutional Court’s judgment, which is the highest court, just because we don’t like it, calling it political, then we are falling into double standards."
He continued, "Such attitudes ultimately push the 2030 generation away from the People Power Party," adding, "Doing 'chimaek' (fried chicken and beer) 100 times won’t work; rather, we need to show a consistent and genuinely better attitude without double standards compared to the Democratic Party." This was a criticism of recent interactions where Supreme Council member Kim Byung-min and Youth Supreme Council member Jang Ye-chan had conversations with MZ generation labor unions over chimaek.
