Support Rally with Over 1,600 Participants for 2030 World Expo Bid
Citizen-Led Event Held Ahead of International Bureau of Expositions On-Site Inspection
Busan City and the 2030 Busan World Expo Citizens Participation Coalition (Permanent Representative Baek Myung-gi) will hold the ‘2030 World Expo Hosting Support Citizens Cheer Concert, One Big Cheer’ at 11 a.m. on the 25th at the Busan Citizens Hall Auditorium.
This event is a citizens’ cheer concert and participation event where citizens voluntarily take part to pray for the hosting of the 2030 Busan World Expo and to build a consensus for the hosting bid.
In particular, ahead of the onsite inspection by the Bureau International des Expositions, the event holds special significance as citizens individually show sharing and consideration in their busy daily lives to support the hosting of the 2030 Busan World Expo and gather enthusiasm for the bid.
The event will begin with a video congratulatory message from Mayor Park Hyung-joon, followed by speeches from Baek Myung-gi, Permanent Representative of the 2030 Busan World Expo Citizens Participation Coalition, Park Seong-hwan, Permanent Chairman of the Citizens Participation Coalition, and about 1,600 general citizens. The program includes ▲pre-event performances (Expo promotional video screening, drum performances, etc.) ▲opening and congratulatory speeches ▲chanting of support slogans and performances ▲commemorative photo session ▲celebratory performances (vocal, choir, Nanta performance, etc.) ▲comedy skits ▲singing together ▲and a lucky draw.
Especially during the chanting of support slogans, over 1,600 citizens will unite their voices using local dialects to express their wish with the phrase, “2030 Busan World Expo, fighting! Let’s do it! Is it okay? It’s done!” showing their determination to host the 2030 World Expo in Busan.
As the 2030 World Expo is one of the world’s top three international events alongside the Olympics and the World Cup, this event is not just a simple performance but is designed to engage people of all ages and genders with a variety of programs including popular songs, magic shows, vocal performances, choir and janggu drum performances, and comedy skits, injecting vitality into busy daily lives and further boosting citizens’ enthusiasm for support.
At the end of the event, a lucky draw will be held, offering participating citizens special gifts and memories to reflect on the significance of the day.
Mayor Park Hyung-joon said, “Thanks to the voluntary participation and enthusiastic response of the citizens, the city of Busan has been gaining recognition worldwide throughout the preparation process for the 2030 World Expo, and the bid to host the 2030 World Expo in Busan is progressing smoothly. I hope everyone will unite in spirit through this event so that your passionate support can spread nationwide.”
The 2030 Busan World Expo Citizens Participation Coalition, established in July last year, has been actively promoting the bid by holding special invited lectures on the Expo theme for citizens, raising awareness of the significance and necessity of hosting the Expo, and conducting promotional campaigns through social media activities and poster postings.
