American Actress Amanda Bynes
Amanda Bynes, an American actress who once dominated the Hollywood romantic comedy market, was forcibly admitted to a psychiatric hospital after walking naked on the streets, US media Page Six reported on the 23rd (local time).
According to the report, a witness to the scene said that Amanda was walking naked without clothes in downtown Los Angeles (LA) the previous morning.
Wandering the streets, Amanda herself called emergency number 911 for help and was later detained at a nearby police station.
After consulting with a psychiatrist, she was diagnosed with symptoms of schizophrenia and was forcibly confined to a psychiatric hospital under Code 5150. Code 5150 is applied in situations where a person may harm themselves or others, generally lasting for 72 hours, with the possibility of extension depending on the patient's needs.
Amanda was scheduled to appear at an event held in Connecticut on the 18th but reportedly canceled due to illness.
Amanda's representatives said, "Her condition has improved significantly," and "She plans to stay hospitalized for one more week to recover enough to be discharged."
Amanda has shown symptoms of schizophrenia in the past as well. In 2013, she was placed under Code 5150 for arson and schizophrenia symptoms. Amanda's mental health issues became known after she was investigated by police for trespassing at a house in Thousand Oaks, California, and setting fire to a garage driveway.
At that time, police questioned Amanda, who was standing near the fire, but she showed signs of mental instability, speaking incoherently. The examining doctor stated that she exhibited symptoms of schizophrenia, and Amanda was ordered by the court to be hospitalized in a psychiatric facility for 72 hours.
Since then, she has reportedly been admitted and discharged repeatedly due to recurring erratic behavior.
Born in California, USA, 36-year-old Bynes debuted in the film industry at the young age of seven. She was one of the most popular child actors at the time.
