Regular General Meeting of the Cooperation Association on the 23rd... 84 Attendees
Importance of Greenhouse Gas Reduction in Supply Chain Stages, Sharing of Cases
LG Electronics announced on the 24th that it held a regular general meeting of its partner companies on the 23rd at the Changwon R&D (Research and Development) Center, gathering 84 partners to pledge commitment to ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) management. On the same day, Samsung Electronics also called its partners together to convey similar messages.
At the meeting, LG Electronics discussed measures to reduce greenhouse gas emissions across the supply chain and strategies to strengthen the manufacturing competitiveness of its partners. Executives, including Wang Cheol-min, Executive Vice President and Head of the Global Operations Center, along with representatives from partner companies, gathered to brainstorm on these topics. The partnership council is a voluntary consultative body established to lead the mutual growth of LG Electronics and its partners.
Global companies are demanding that prime contractors and their partners achieve carbon neutrality throughout the production, distribution, and sales processes. In response, LG Electronics has committed to continuously supporting its partners through funding for carbon reduction facility investments, carbon reduction consulting, and carbon emission surveys. The company plans to develop a carbon emission management system for its partners in the future and is considering incorporating partners’ carbon emission management levels into the purchasing process.
LG Electronics decided to expand its ESG risk assessment activities related to fire and safety accidents, previously conducted for first- and second-tier partners, to include third-tier partners as well. It plans to develop ESG online training courses and provide foreign language online educational content for partners entering overseas markets together.

LG Electronics shared this year’s management status and business directions with partner representatives, emphasizing strengthening manufacturing competitiveness, ensuring quality, and securing ESG and DX (Digital Transformation) capabilities. The company believes that close communication with partners is essential to respond to the rapidly changing business environment.
To increase production capacity, LG Electronics will send automation system experts to partner companies. These experts will work on adapting product structures and manufacturing methods to automation systems. The company will transfer its know-how in building smart factories. Interest-free loans and mutual growth cooperation fund support will be provided simultaneously. The scope of support will also be expanded from domestic to overseas partner companies. The Changwon LG Smart Park is the only domestic home appliance company facility selected as a Lighthouse Factory by the World Economic Forum (WEF), recognized for its innovative smart factory system.
Center Head Wang Cheol-min stated, "We see securing the competitiveness of our partners as a core task of mutual growth," adding, "We will strengthen the capabilities necessary for sustainable growth and preparing for the future together with our partners."
Samsung Electronics also held a regular general meeting the previous day at the Ramada Hotel in Suwon, inviting about 200 members of its partner council (Hyopseonghoe). Like LG Electronics, Samsung pledged to promote ESG management among its partners.
