K-Chosun Consulting Day Held Locally
Changwon National University held the ‘K-Shipbuilding Consulting Day’ event in Cartagena, Colombia.
According to the university on the 23rd, this event was organized as part of the project to establish a foundation for revitalizing the shipbuilding industry in Colombia.
Since 2022, Changwon National University has been carrying out KOICA’s ‘Project Management Consulting (PMC) Service for Establishing a Foundation to Revitalize the Shipbuilding Industry in Colombia,’ with the university’s Industry-Academic Cooperation Foundation dispatching 10 shipbuilding experts to Colombia to conduct the project.

The event introduced Korea’s advanced shipbuilding technology.
Focused consultations and forums were held on technology exchange through consulting, building a business environment, and customized supply support of shipbuilding equipment tailored to shipyards.
Consulting and presentation of results on the current status of Colombia’s shipbuilding industry environment, design, and production methods, conducted locally over one year, were also carried out.
The project progress was communicated to officials from the Colombian government and related organizations.
About 80 representatives from institutions and research institutes attended the event, including the Deputy Director of the Colombian Maritime Authority, the Korean Ambassador to Colombia, the President of the Colombian Business Federation, representatives from Productiva Colombia, key shipyards, and the KOICA country director.
President Lee Ho-young said in a video message, “We will actively play a role and provide support through the Changwon National University consortium so that this project becomes a good model for Korea-Colombia cooperation and greatly contributes to the development of Colombia’s shipbuilding industry.”
The PMC service project for establishing a foundation to revitalize the shipbuilding industry in Colombia, conducted by Changwon National University, is a technical consulting project aimed at strengthening the new shipbuilding technology capabilities and competitiveness of Colombia’s shipbuilding industry.
The project is being implemented over three years from January 2022 to December 2024, targeting shipyards in Bogot? and Cartagena, Colombia.
This May, the university plans to conduct an invited training program for 25 high-ranking and working-level Colombian officials to share Korea’s shipbuilding industry development experience and advanced management systems, and to support the formulation of policies for the development of Colombia’s shipbuilding industry.
