Jung Dong-won (16), a singer from Mister Trot, was caught by the police while riding a motorcycle on the Dongbu Expressway.

The Dongdaemun Police Station in Seoul reported on the 23rd that singer Jung Dong-won was booked without detention on charges of violating the Road Traffic Act (prohibition of passage, etc.) for driving a motorcycle on the highway.

Jung Dong-won is suspected of illegally riding a motorcycle on the Dongbu Expressway in Seoul at around 12:16 a.m. on that day. Born on March 19, 2007, Jung Dong-won is known to have obtained his motorbike license on the 21st.

The police received a report that a motorcycle was driving on a road designated for cars only, then dispatched officers to the scene and caught Jung Dong-won while he was driving.

The Road Traffic Act stipulates that if a two-wheeled vehicle other than a car travels on a highway or a road designated exclusively for cars, the offender shall be subject to a fine of up to 300,000 won or detention.

A police official explained, "Since he is a minor, he was first caught and sent home," adding, "An investigation will be conducted later with a guardian present."

Meanwhile, according to data submitted by the Seoul Facilities Corporation to So Young-cheol, a member of the Seoul Metropolitan Council's Transportation Committee (People Power Party, Mapo District 2nd Constituency), incidents of motorcycles entering restricted roads such as Gangbyeonbuk-ro and Olympic-daero, which are managed by the corporation, have surged from 3 cases in 2018 to 46 cases last year.

Considering that the corporation currently monitors unauthorized entries through CCTV surveillance and patrols by the road patrol team on roads designated exclusively for cars, it is estimated that the actual number of cases they have not detected is even higher. Jung Dong-won was also caught this time through a driver report.

Regarding this, Jung Dong-won's agency, Showplay Entertainment, stated, "Since it was his first time driving after obtaining his license, he did not recognize that it was a road designated exclusively for cars and violated the Road Traffic Act," adding, "We will ensure that such incidents do not happen again in the future."
