Agency: "Completely Unfounded... Lawyer Retained"
Actor Yoo Yeon-seok (38, An Yeon-seok) denied allegations that he had ignored an apartment security guard in the past, calling them "groundless."
On the afternoon of the 22nd, a post titled "It seems actor Yoo Yeon-seok's personality varies from person to person" was uploaded on an online community bulletin board.
The author claimed that their father worked as a security guard at the apartment where Yoo Yeon-seok lived about 6 to 7 years ago. One day, the father reportedly spoke to Yoo Yeon-seok but was met with finger-pointing and mocking laughter. The author added, "My father quit his job out of shame and humiliation."
On the same day, Yoo Yeon-seok's agency, King Kong by Starship, refuted the claims, stating, "The content is groundless." They added, "We plan to file a criminal complaint for defamation due to false information against the post's author. We have already retained a lawyer and are preparing strong legal measures."
Later, an apology post appeared on the same bulletin board claiming the original post was written out of jealousy, but it was revealed to be a false post written by a netizen impersonating the original author.
The original author posted again, saying, "I only shared what I heard from my father," and added, "It is unlikely that my father quit because of Yoo Yeon-seok." They also stated, "I did not write this for money. I did not expect things to escalate this much by mentioning a celebrity's real name. Honestly, I am a bit scared."
Yoo Yeon-seok debuted in the film Oldboy (2003) and gained attention through the drama Reply 1994 (2013). He has appeared in Romantic Doctor, Teacher Kim (2017), Mr. Sunshine (2018), Hospital Playlist (2020?2021), and Suriname (2022). Recently, he starred in the JTBC drama Understanding of Love and the film Mungungi.
