'Poland Export' K2 Tank, Delivered 3 Months Early

According to Hyundai Rotem on the 23rd, five K2 tanks arrived in Gdynia, Poland, about three months earlier than the original delivery date in June. The K2 tanks that arrived this time are part of the urgent order of 180 units signed in an execution contract with the Polish Military Procurement Office last August. After local customs clearance and inspection, they will be officially delivered to the Polish military.

Considering that this is the first export of completed K2 tanks, Hyundai Rotem continuously made efforts such as reallocating personnel around teams expected to have heavy workloads and extending working hours to meet the delivery schedule.

Last month, Defense Minister Lee Jong-seop met with Polish Deputy Prime Minister and Defense Minister Mariusz Błaszczak and Sebastian Chwałek, chairman of the Polish state-owned defense group PGZ, to discuss defense and defense industry cooperation between the two countries. Then, on the 14th, Foreign Minister Park Jin held talks with Polish Foreign Minister Zbigniew Rau and promised follow-up export measures.

Meanwhile, Hyundai Rotem launched an "Integrated Export Support Group" with government defense-related agencies and formed a dedicated export organization for the K2 tank called "Team K2" under it, conducting practical consultations on follow-up export measures.

A Hyundai Rotem official said, "The early delivery plan of the K2 tanks in Poland was evaluated as impressive, and we received words of gratitude," adding, "We will continue to strive to strengthen the mutual trust relationship between Korea and Poland."

Meanwhile, Hyundai Rotem delivered the initial batch of 10 units locally about four months after the first execution contract for the urgent order of Polish K2 tanks was signed last August.
