North Korea's Kim Ju-ae Wearing a 2.4 Million Won Dior Jacket While Watching ICBM

Kim Ju-ae, the daughter of North Korean State Affairs Commission Chairman Kim Jong-un, was confirmed to have worn a coat from the French luxury brand 'Christian Dior' during the ICBM (Intercontinental Ballistic Missile) launch observation on the 16th.

On the 17th, North Korean media released footage of the 'Hwasong-17' ICBM launch conducted by the Central Military Commission of the Workers' Party at Pyongyang International Airport the previous day.

In the video, Kim Jong-un is seen personally directing the site, accompanied by Jo Yong-won, Secretary of the Party Central Committee Organization, Ri Il-hwan, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, and Kim Yo-jong, Deputy Director of the Workers' Party. Notably, Kim Ju-ae, Kim Jong-un's second daughter, was also present, drawing attention.

On the 17th, North Korea Central TV released footage of the ICBM Hwasong-17 launch. Behind Kim Jong-un were his daughter Kim Ju-ae, Jo Yong-won, Secretary of the Party Central Committee Organization, Ri Il-hwan, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, and Kim Yo-jong, Deputy Director of the Workers' Party.

It was revealed that the black coat Kim Ju-ae wore at the time is a luxury Dior product valued at approximately $1,900 (about 2.4 million KRW) per piece. The hooded item is Dior’s ‘Kids Hooded Down Jacket,’ featuring Dior’s distinctive overlapping square and diamond patterns.

Recently, it has been reported that starvation is occurring in North Korea due to food shortages. However, there are criticisms that the North Korean leadership continues to consume luxury goods. Luxury items such as watches, clothing, and accessories are subject to sanctions against North Korea.

Previously, on October 10, 2020, during the 75th anniversary military parade of the Party’s founding, Kim Jong-un gave a speech urging the people to overcome disasters, portraying himself as a caring leader. However, he was criticized after being spotted wearing a Swiss IWC ‘Portofino Automatic’ wristwatch worth about 14 million KRW that day.

On the 18th, the South Korean presidential office stated, “Amid a severe food crisis in North Korea causing widespread starvation, the North Korean regime is neglecting the human rights and livelihoods of its people, focusing only on large-scale military parades and nuclear and missile development,” adding, “The only outcome North Korea will gain from provocations is harsh international sanctions.”
