Mild Climate Conditions and Beautiful Natural Scenery
On the 21st, Oh Min-ja, a member of the Uiryeong County Council (Uiryeong-gun Na electoral district), proposed the establishment of a comprehensive soccer center during a 5-minute free speech at the 275th extraordinary session of the county council, stating that low birth rates and aging are emerging social issues and that the influx of young external resources can transform the local economy into a virtuous cycle.
Since the inauguration of Governor Oh Tae-wan, Uiryeong-gun has been promoting regional revitalization strategies utilizing its pleasant natural environment and cultural resources. Last year, the ‘Rich Rich Festival’ was held for the first time, and this year, events such as the ‘Uiryeong Geunjulttaenggi’?revived after six years?along with the Hong Ui-jang Festival and the ‘2023?2024 Uiryeong Year of Visit’ were introduced.
“Watching the ‘Uiryeong County Mayor’s Cup National Middle School Baseball Tournament’ held last February, I realized that the sports industry is a very effective strategy for regional revitalization,” she said, introducing cases of large-scale sports complexes operated in Namhae, Hapcheon, Goseong, Changnyeong Bugok, and other areas.
Uiryeong has a mild climate and beautiful natural scenery, making it suitable for outdoor sports facilities such as soccer fields and futsal courts. She emphasized that locations near the town center, where basic infrastructure is somewhat established, would be appropriate for accessibility and convenience for users.
“If linked with the soon-to-open Gyeongnam Provincial Office of Education Future Education Center, it will greatly help in promotion and attracting visitors. The operation of the comprehensive soccer center must also be accompanied by essential preparations such as food services and accommodation facilities,” she added.
