The Nuri rocket model, measuring 12m for the rocket and 13m for the launch vehicle, was erected as a symbol of Gyeongnam's resurgence through the aerospace industry.
According to Gyeongnam Province, 95 companies related to the aerospace industry, accounting for 62% of such companies, are located in Gyeongnam.
In terms of production volume, as of 2020, aviation accounts for 70% and the space industry 43%, and among the 17,000 aerospace workers nationwide, 11,000 reside in Gyeongnam.

During the first half of this year, the province plans to establish the ‘Gyeongsangnam-do Space Economy Vision,’ which includes strategies and plans for space development, and will further strengthen cooperation with government, industry, academia, research, and public experts to lead the space era.
Governor Park Wan-su said, “We will actively nurture the space industry as a core industry of Gyeongnam, centered on the Aerospace Administration scheduled to open in Sacheon, Gyeongnam this year, and the satellite-specialized zone in the space industry cooperation district,” adding, “Gyeongnam will take the lead so that South Korea can establish itself as a space power.”
