The signing ceremony, held the day before at the "Jeonnam Visit Year Season 2 Seoul Festival Opening Ceremony," was attended by Kim Young-rok, Governor of Jeonnam Province, Lee Geon-jun, CEO of BGF Retail, Kim Jeong-min, Director of Kakao, and about 10,000 Seoul citizens.

According to the agreement, BGF Retail, which operates the largest convenience store chain "CU" nationwide, plans to purchase about 12 billion KRW worth of seaweed for kimbap this year. They also agreed to actively cooperate in securing stable sales channels by using Jeonnam seafood in convenience store ready-to-eat meal ingredients and developing new menu items.

Kakao will cooperate in selling and promoting seasonal seafood produced in Jeonnam (supporting Jeonnam fishing households) through "Kakao Makers," a joint ordering and sales platform linked with "KakaoTalk," which is used by 50 million people nationwide.

In particular, the distribution service of "Kakao Makers," which directly connects producers and consumers, is expected to have a triple effect: supplying fresh seafood to consumers at affordable prices, ensuring fishermen receive fair prices, and helping sell seafood without inventory.

Governor Kim Young-rok said, "Through this agreement, we have secured a new distribution channel that ensures stable sales networks for seafood produced in Jeonnam's clean waters, creating a virtuous cycle where more consumers can taste the products and more producers are supported. We will do our best to improve the distribution environment so that consumers nationwide can purchase safe and fresh seafood."
