84-year-old artist Oh Hwaja (84 years old, female) is drawing attention as her first book publication exhibition titled "All Flowers Must Be Beautiful" is being held at the old Dongmokpo Station.

After taking up drawing as her first hobby, Oh has been showcasing numerous colored pencil and acrylic paintings she created over four years since March 4.

This exhibition, held to commemorate the publication of the coloring book "All Flowers Must Be Beautiful," was overseen and directed by her daughter, calligrapher Lee Hwa.

The coloring book features 14 of her mother's colored pencil flower drawings, which Lee Hwa traced and restructured into line art so readers can color them.

Additionally, each flower drawing is titled in calligraphy, with memories shared below about her mother.

The old Dongmokpo Station, where the exhibition is held, is filled with the scent of spring flowers in March. Upon entering through the station doors, large flowers attached to the walls and small flower postcards expressed with petals catch the eye.

The "Bloom Fully" photo zone combines large acrylic paintings with small, cute colored pencil drawings, exuding the fragrance of flowers.

The flower-themed works offer the enjoyment of viewing flowers drawn with soft colors in colored pencil, presenting a perspective different from that of traditional painters' works.

Though rough and coarse, the free-flowing lines depict flowers simply yet intricately.

Lee Hwa said, "In 2018, I encouraged my mother, who had retired, to take up drawing as a hobby. At first, she grumbled about what kind of drawing she should do, complaining that expensive paper was a waste, and started drawing on every piece of paper she could find." She added, "I want to express my gratitude to my neighbor and artist Lee Yoonjung, who inspired my mother, who began drawing after turning 80."

She continued, "My mother's drawings may seem unskilled, but they bring a smile. At least to me, they are much more special than works by any famous artist."

Artist Oh Hwaja expressed her thanks to her daughter for helping her showcase the talent she discovered late in life after becoming immersed in drawing in her senior years.

In particular, one side of the exhibition hall displays works that Oh Hwaja has painted over time, allowing visitors to see the evolution of her art at a glance. Over 600 colored pencil flower drawings, completed one per day, are also exhibited.

The exhibition is open throughout March (11 a.m. to 6 p.m., Sundays from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m.).
