On that day, Seo-gu Mayor Kim Ikang started with a luncheon meeting with Pungam-dong staff and continued until 8 p.m. meeting consecutively with the Federation of Autonomous Organizations, village communities, Pungam-dong choir, neighborhood leaders, walking clubs, and members of resident autonomy programs to listen to the vivid voices from the village field.
He also held a meeting with small business owners in the alley shopping district and directly examined local issues such as the ‘creation of car-free streets,’ seeking alternatives together with residents.
Pungam-dong has set its BI (Brand Identity) as ‘Healing Resting Place, Healthy Village’ and is striving to realize a community where all residents are healthy in body and mind.
In particular, barefoot walking club activities are actively taking place centered around Pungam Lake Park and Geumdangsan Mountain area, and a residents’ choir has been formed mainly by people who love classical music, creating a new village culture.
Pungam-dong residents also cooperate bit by bit to actively carry out welfare projects such as side dish delivery for neighbors in need of care, silver horticulture classes, and operating a longevity photo studio.
The thoughts and ideas of residents are leading to village policies and projects, and interest and participation in the village community are becoming the driving force for realizing the ‘My Side Living Government.’
Seo-gu Mayor Kim Ikang said, “Meeting residents on site has clarified and made me realize the direction and goals Seo-gu should pursue,” adding, “We will start by leading the participation of each awakened resident and realize resident autonomy and living government.”
Meanwhile, since the 28th of last month, Seo-gu has been operating the ‘Visiting My Side Mayor’s Office’ by visiting four key neighborhoods (Geumho 1-dong, Dongcheon-dong, Chipyeong-dong, Pungam-dong) every Tuesday in turn, and plans to continue the linked neighborhood tour schedule soon.
