On the 22nd, Doosan Fuel Cell announced that it signed a basic agreement with Kolon Global at Doosan Tower in Dongdaemun to expand mid- to long-term business and cooperation areas.

The two companies agreed to gradually cooperate to develop an eco-friendly hydrogen fuel cell business model utilizing biogas. Doosan Fuel Cell will be responsible for supplying hydrogen fuel cells and long-term maintenance service agreements (LTSA), while Kolon Global will handle fuel supply, EPC, and securing piping facilities. They will also collaborate on necessary permits, technical exchanges, and other related matters for the project.

This project is an eco-friendly, high-efficiency energy business that uses biogas generated from sewage treatment plants by removing impurities and mixing it with natural gas to use as fuel for hydrogen fuel cells. The electricity produced will be used as distributed power, and the heat will be utilized for heating, cooling, and hot water in nearby areas. By installing a tri-generation system that can simultaneously produce hydrogen, electricity, and heat, the ultimate plan is to enable hydrogen vehicle charging.

In particular, since Kolon Global holds the business rights for sewage treatment plants, commercialization is relatively easier. Moreover, by using biogas generated in local communities as eco-friendly energy, this business model allows local governments, companies, and residents to coexist and benefit together, giving it greater significance.

The two companies plan to develop the business model within this year and actively participate in CHPS bidding starting in 2024.

Jung Hyung-rak, CEO of Doosan Fuel Cell, said, "We expect high business synergy between Kolon Global, specialized in eco-friendly energy business development and infrastructure, and Doosan Fuel Cell, a leading company in hydrogen fuel cells." He added, "We will establish strategic partnerships with major companies to preoccupy the CHPS market and secure mid- to long-term order volumes."
