At the sentencing hearing for a man in his 60s who was prosecuted for posting banners near a girls' high school and middle school in Daegu, seeking a woman to bear his child and live with him, the prosecution requested a one-year prison sentence.

On the 22nd, the Daegu District Court Criminal Division 5 (Presiding Judge Kim Hee-young) announced that it held the sentencing hearing for Mr. A (60), who was indicted on charges including violation of the Child Welfare Act (coercion, mediation, sexual harassment of a child, etc.).

Mr. A is accused of hanging banners with phrases that induce sexual shame in children and contain obscene and decadent content that could harm public morals on a cargo truck on March 8 and 15 last year, on the road in front of a girls' high school and behind a girls' middle school in Dalseo-gu, Daegu.

The banners included phrases such as "Students who find it impossible to study because their views differ from the world, come to this vehicle" and "Looking for a sacrificial woman aged 13 to 20 to bear a child and manage the household for a rough 60-year-old grandfather living alone," along with contact information.

During police investigation, it was revealed that Mr. A has schizophrenia, and he was administratively hospitalized and is currently receiving treatment.

At the sentencing hearing, Mr. A claimed, "I only conveyed my desire to continue the family line and never demanded or coerced any specific person," and "The phrases cannot be seen as obscene or decadent content, nor do they constitute sexual abuse." Mr. A's lawyer pleaded for leniency, stating, "This is a situation that requires treatment rather than criminal punishment."

The prosecutor requested a one-year prison sentence for Mr. A, along with orders to disclose and notify personal information, completion of 40 hours of sexual violence offender treatment programs, and a five-year employment restriction at child, youth, and disability welfare institutions. The sentencing hearing for Mr. A is scheduled to be held at the Daegu District Court Western Branch on the 13th of next month.
