Gyeonggi Province Governor Kim Dong-yeon is taking a commemorative photo with the committee members after the appointment ceremony of new members of the Gyeonggi Province Clean Society Public-Private Council on the 21st.
Gyeonggi Province Governor Kim Dong-yeon emphasized the integrity of public officials in Gyeonggi Province, stating that "integrity is a fundamental duty and pride that public officials must have."
On the afternoon of the 21st, Gyeonggi Province held the appointment ceremony for the 3rd Gyeonggi Province Integrity Society Public-Private Council members and the 1st 2023 meeting of the Gyeonggi Province Integrity Society Public-Private Council at the Gyeonggi Provincial Government building, attended by Governor Kim Dong-yeon and 20 members of the council.
In his greeting, Governor Kim said, "I believe integrity is a basic duty and a kind of pride that public officials must have, and it is truly regrettable that we have to emphasize this especially now." He added, "Director Park Seok-mu, who studied Dasan for a long time, summarized Dasan’s philosophy in just two characters: Gongnyeom (公廉), which means fairness and integrity. The meaning condensed in these short words makes us think deeply."
He continued, "I saw an article saying that I refused all preferential treatment for former officials, and I didn’t quite understand it. It’s not something to boast about, but something I believe should be done according to one’s conscience and conviction. Most of the countless public officials in Gyeonggi Province are probably like me," and said, "If any such incidents (causing controversy) occur in Gyeonggi Province, it is my responsibility as the person in charge of Gyeonggi Province. I ask the council members to provide guidance and advice and help us realize that integrity is the path we must take and a path that brings joy and fulfillment."
The composition of the 3rd term of the Public-Private Council follows the "Ordinance on the Establishment and Operation of the Gyeonggi Province Integrity Society Public-Private Council," enacted in October 2018. In December last year, the province appointed 25 members as the Gyeonggi Province Integrity Society Public-Private Council members.
Lee Sang-hak, co-representative of the Korea Transparency Organization, was elected as the 3rd term co-chairman of the private sector by the members’ vote.
On this day, the council reported the 2023 Gyeonggi Province Integrity Improvement Plan (draft) and approved the 2023 Gyeonggi Province Integrity Society Public-Private Council’s promotion tasks.
The 2023 Gyeonggi Province Comprehensive Integrity Improvement Plan (draft) includes the vision "Opening Change and Opportunity through Integrity" and 15 promotion tasks under four major strategies aiming for a first-grade rating in the Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission’s comprehensive integrity evaluation.
The four major strategies are ▲ Advancement of integrity policies satisfying residents ▲ Internalization of integrity awareness for everyday integrity ▲ Strengthening cooperation and collaboration to improve evaluation grades ▲ Minimizing corruption incidents through corruption prevention and management.
