'House Sale' Held at the Event Hall Banquet Room on the 31st at 4 PM
Busan City will hold a 'charity auction event' on the 31st at 4 p.m. at the Busan Open Event Hall to support the victims of the Turkey-Syria earthquake, auctioning off items held within the event hall.
This event will be conducted in two parts: a 'preview exhibition' (from the 24th to the 30th) where all auction items can be viewed and inspected on-site in advance, and the main auction event called the 'house sale.'
The auction will be conducted as a talent donation by Park Hye-kyung, CEO of Eight Institute and Korea's first art auctioneer, who sympathizes with the purpose of the charity auction.
The main auction items include over 130 pieces such as antique furniture, chandeliers, and artworks that were used during the 1980s when the presidential local residence and mayor’s official residence were in use and have been preserved until now, as well as artworks donated by art museums and galleries in the Busan area specifically for this auction.
Notable auction items include ▲an antique beauty chair personally used by the president ▲an extendable leather dining table set from the German luxury furniture brand ‘Himolla’ ▲a marble chandelier lighting ▲and five modern and contemporary artworks.
During the preview exhibition period before the charity auction, many citizens are expected to visit as they can experience the interior facilities of the Open Event Hall, which have not been open to the public before, and purchase tableware or indoor accessories that are not included in the auction.
However, attendance at the main auction event, the ‘house sale,’ is limited to 100 people who have visited the Open Event Hall during the preview exhibition period and submitted a bid registration application for the auction items to ensure smooth auction proceedings.
The funds raised through the charity auction will be donated to the Korean Red Cross.
Mayor Park Hyung-jun stated, “This is a meaningful event that returns items containing the history and spirit of the space used as the presidential local residence and mayor’s official residence for over 40 years to the citizens,” and added, “I hope the funds raised through this event will bring some comfort to the residents affected by the Turkey-Syria earthquake.”
Since January of this year, the city has begun remodeling design work for the Open Event Hall and plans to complete construction by the end of the year, transforming it from an authoritative government building into a ‘citizen complex cultural space that embraces all generations and classes,’ with a reopening scheduled for early next year.
