GS25 announced that it will participate in the ‘MD-Hosted Export Consultation Meeting’ held on the 3rd floor of COEX Startup Branch Conference Room on the 22nd, in collaboration with the Korea International Trade Association, to assist outstanding domestic manufacturing companies in entering overseas markets.
The MD-Hosted Export Consultation Meeting is conducted in a one-on-one face-to-face consultation format between MDs (Merchandisers) responsible for import and export at GS25 and manufacturing companies regarding overseas expansion. This year, 171 manufacturing companies applied to participate, and 32 companies that passed the first document screening were given the opportunity to attend this face-to-face consultation. After the consultations, GS25 will offer manufacturing companies deemed to have high market potential the chance to participate in local promotional events held in five overseas countries (China, Vietnam, Hong Kong, Mongolia, and Taiwan). Additionally, GS Retail plans to expand exports through overseas channels where it has already entered, such as convenience stores, home shopping, and supermarkets.
Since 2021, GS25 and the Korea International Trade Association have been conducting export consultation meetings to support export businesses of small and medium-sized manufacturing companies lacking export experience and overseas networks. In 2021, six manufacturing companies participated in overseas promotional events after the consultation meetings, achieving sales of 71 million KRW, and last year, five manufacturing companies recorded sales of 314 million KRW. Showing a high sales growth rate of 4.4 times in one year, along with the Korean Wave, sales of 1 billion KRW are expected this year.
GS25 and the Korea International Trade Association expect that the export support projects for small and medium-sized manufacturing companies will become an opportunity for the growth of manufacturing companies and to widely promote excellent K-brand products worldwide, serving as a new path for mutual growth.
Kim Eun-joo, Head of GS Retail’s Import and Export Department, said, “We are participating in this consultation meeting to explore directions and provide opportunities for excellent manufacturing companies lacking experience and networks to expand overseas,” adding, “We will continue to support various activities to expand export routes and create results for manufacturing companies, seeking ways to grow together.”
