Korea University Medical Center, Yoon Eul-sik's Inauguration Ceremony as New Director... "Completion of Smart Hospital Transition"

Korea University Medical Center announced on the afternoon of the 21st that it held the inauguration ceremony of Professor Yoon Eul-sik as the 17th Vice President for Medical Affairs and Director of the Medical Center at the Medical School Yukwangsa Hall.

About 300 guests, including Kim Jae-ho, Chairman of the Korea Joongang Foundation, Kim Dong-won, President of Korea University, Seung Myung-ho, President of the Korea University Alumni Association, and Yoon Dong-seop, President of the Korean Hospital Association, attended the event.


In his inaugural speech, Vice President Yoon stated, "We will gather the wisdom and will of all members to create a medical center full of dreams and hope," and added, "As a first mover, we will take on challenges through continuous change and innovation to achieve a quantum jump for Korea University College of Medicine's 100th anniversary in 2028."


He presented the core vision of "realizing patient-centered hyper-connected, hyper-collaborative, and hyper-personalized care through the transition to a next-generation smart medical institution" and "leaping forward as a leading research-oriented medical institution with domestic No. 1 and global top 30 competitiveness." Vice President Yoon emphasized, "We will become a medical center recognized for its international and objective evaluation value through competition with world-class medical institutions."


Furthermore, he announced plans to activate support programs for securing excellent human resources and training basic and clinical physician-scientists, expand exchange and cooperation, and implement internationalization strategies such as attracting overseas patients. He also promised tangible outcomes for the future hospital, the 4th hospital of Korea University Medical Center.


Vice President Yoon pledged, "We will make this a dignified institution where all members are happy and walk together with the social community," and added, "The Medical School and Anam, Guro, and Ansan Hospitals under the Medical Center will soar higher based on their unique identities and become a harmonious ONE KU Medicine that maximizes synergy."


Born in 1964, Vice President Yoon graduated from Korea University College of Medicine and earned his doctorate from the same graduate school. According to Korea University Medical Center, he is recognized as a pioneer who introduced and developed robotic breast reconstruction surgery in Korea, and is an expert in breast reconstruction, lymphedema, and liposculpture. Externally, he has served as President of the Korean Society of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons and President of the Korean Society of Breast Plastic Surgery. Within the university, he has held positions such as Chair of the Education and Training Committee at Korea University Ansan Hospital, Director of Medical Planning at the Medical Center, Deputy Director of Clinical Affairs at Anam Hospital, and Director of Anam Hospital.


Vice President Yoon’s term is from March 1, 2023, to February 28, 2027.
