Hong Young-geun, Head of Jeonnam Fire Headquarters, Conducts On-site Inspection at Tire Factory

Hong Young-geun, head of the Jeonnam Fire Headquarters, visited the Geumho Tire factory in Gokseong on the 21st to conduct safety inspections and on-site guidance.

This visit was prompted by the fire that occurred at the Daejeon tire factory on the 12th, which completely destroyed the second factory and resulted in the loss of approximately 210,000 tires, causing significant damage. It was carried out to prevent similar accidents within the province.

Due to the nature of tire factories, which contain many flammable materials, initial fire suppression is difficult, and there is a risk of significant human and property damage, prompting special management measures.

Head Hong checked the management status of hazardous materials and firefighting facilities within the factory and urged the factory manager and related personnel to ensure thorough safety management and prompt response through self-training in case of disasters.

In particular, on this day, the Jeonnam Fire Headquarters formed a joint inspection team including the county architecture department, gas, electricity, and private experts to conduct special inspections and fire safety consulting for related personnel.

The joint inspection team focused on ▲ verifying the maintenance status of firefighting facilities ▲ safety and maintenance status of major machinery and equipment ▲ storage conditions of special combustible materials within the factory ▲ safety management status of electricity, gas, and other factors.

Head Hong Young-geun said, “Tire factories store large amounts of combustible materials, making the fire risk very high,” and added, “The fire department will implement thorough fire prevention measures, and related personnel should make autonomous inspections a daily habit to create a safe environment.”
