This surprise inspection is part of the spring fire prevention measures and will be carried out monthly by Jindo Fire Station from March to May.

The inspection targets multi-use establishments frequently visited by unspecified large numbers of people, including entertainment bars, karaoke bars, and singing practice rooms.

The main inspection items include △closure or locking of emergency exits △obstruction or placement of obstacles in evacuation stairs and passageways △checking the management status of fire doors and fire shutters △and verifying the normal operation of fire-fighting facilities.

If any violations are found during the surprise inspections, legal actions will be taken along with fines of up to 3 million won.

A Jindo Fire Station official urged, “We ask that those responsible for multi-use facilities actively cooperate in maintaining fire-fighting facilities and evacuation and fire prevention facilities.”

Kim Gwang-seon, Chief of Jindo Fire Station, said, “To minimize casualties, we plan to continuously conduct surprise inspections of emergency exits and other areas in multi-use facilities,” and added, “We hope facility managers will pay special attention to fire safety management in their daily operations and actively cooperate to prevent violations.”
