Gyeongbokgung Palace, Jongmyo Shrine, and Joseon Royal Tombs are filled with the fragrant scent of flowers in spring. It is perfect for enjoying leisure and romance.

According to the Cultural Heritage Administration's Office of Palaces and Royal Tombs on the 21st, this year's spring flowers will start blooming at Gyeongbokgung Palace on the 23rd and reach their peak from late March to early April.


At Gyeongbokgung Palace, you can see cherry trees, plum trees, apricot trees, weeping cherry trees, and mountain cherry trees; at Changdeokgung Palace, you can find spicebush, peonies, and mountain azaleas; at Changgyeonggung Palace, plum trees, azaleas, and mountain azaleas bloom; and at Deoksugung Palace, mountain cherry trees, apricot trees, and peonies are in bloom. At Jongmyo Shrine, azaleas, rhododendrons, and apricot trees show their blossoms.


The Joseon Royal Tombs also transform into flower gardens. Donggureung in Guri is adorned with peach trees and Japanese snowbell trees; Gwangneung in Namyangju with cornelian cherries and azaleas; Sareung in Namyangju with azaleas; Hongneung and Yureung in Namyangju with cherry trees; Taereung and Gangneung in Seoul with azaleas and rhododendrons; Jeongneung in Seoul with azaleas; Uireung in Seoul with mountain azaleas; Seonneung and Jeongneung in Seoul with mountain cherry trees; Heonneung and Inneung in Seoul with azaleas and cornelian cherries; and Seooreung in Goyang with mountain cherry trees, each colored beautifully.

At Seosamneung in Goyang, azaleas bloom; at Samneung in Paju, cherry trees, azaleas, and Korean spice viburnum bloom; at Yungneung and Geonneung in Hwaseong, azaleas and cornelian cherries bloom; at Jangneung in Gimpo, azaleas and mountain cherry trees bloom; and at Yeongneung (英陵) and Yeongneung (寧陵) in Yeoju, azaleas awaken from their slumber.


The Office of Palaces and Royal Tombs recommends places where the spring atmosphere is vivid, such as the Amisan flower beds at Gyeongbokgung Palace, the Nakseonjae flower beds at Changdeokgung Palace, the Okcheon Bridge area at Changgyeonggung Palace, Hongneung and Yureung in Namyangju, the walking paths at Taereung and Gangneung in Seoul, and the walking paths at Yungneung and Geonneung in Hwaseong. An official stated, "Even within the city, the beautiful scenery is well preserved, allowing families and couples to stroll together and take a break from their busy daily lives."
