Teenage Granddaughter Dies Trying to Rescue Grandmother Electrocuted While Bathing Dog

Pohang Nambu Police Station Investigates Electric Water Heater Electrocution Accident

A tragic incident occurred where a teenage elementary school student was electrocuted and died while trying to save her grandmother who collapsed while bathing a dog with an electric water heater.


According to the Pohang Nambu Police Station in Gyeongbuk on the 21st, at 8:34 p.m. on the 20th, a grandmother was electrocuted and suddenly collapsed in the bathroom of a house in Janggi-myeon, Nam-gu, Pohang, while bathing a dog with an electric water heater.


The granddaughter, Ms. A, lost consciousness while trying to remove the electric water heater from her grandmother’s hand and save her.


The 119 emergency medical team, who responded to the family’s report, transported Ms. A, who was in cardiac arrest, to a nearby hospital, but she ultimately passed away. Ms. A’s grandmother is receiving treatment and is reported to be in stable condition.


The police found burn marks on Ms. A’s hand, which was holding the water heater, and are investigating the incident as an electrocution accident.


A police official stated, “The National Forensic Service will conduct an on-site investigation, and if necessary, the manufacturer of the electric water heater will also be investigated.”
