Story of Being Rejected at Local Dog Owners' Gathering Sparks Debate
"Are Dogs Now Also Being Excluded and Discriminated Against?" Bustling Discussion
A dog owner’s story about being discriminated against at a neighborhood dog gathering because their dog is a mixed breed has sparked controversy.
On the 21st, a post titled 'I was discriminated against at a dog gathering' gained attention on an online community. The author, Mr. A, shared, "There is a medium-to-large dog gathering in my neighborhood, so I attended it today."
Mr. A explained, "My dog is a 19kg Jindo mixed breed," adding, "I adopted the dog as a puppy from a mother dog that was a stray."
He said, "It was my first time attending such a gathering, so it felt awkward, but everything went smoothly, and I was planning to attend again. However, the group leader contacted me," and added, "They hinted around but basically said, 'Please don’t come next time.'"
He continued, "When I asked for the reason, they said, 'Jindo mixed breeds don’t fit the nature of this gathering.' They claimed there had been issues with dogs similar to mine before and that this was a preventive measure, but it sounded like an excuse. I think they just don’t like my dog," he lamented.
He added, "My dog played well with the others and even received compliments like 'pretty' and 'cute,' but thinking that they disliked my dog behind my back makes me feel really bad," and said, "When I asked if I shouldn’t have been accepted from the start, they apologized, saying it was a misunderstanding caused by another member who had been in contact with me."
Mr. A said, "I don’t have to attend the gathering, but I’m so angry thinking I went out and was only discriminated against," and complained, "It’s creepy that people have such thoughts even as fellow dog owners."
Netizens who read the post commented, "I thought it was because they were afraid of being bitten, but it’s a medium-to-large dog gathering from the start. Just think, 'They probably want to gather foreign breeds and play aristocrats,' and cut ties. There’s no benefit in associating with those people."
Other netizens also responded with comments like, "Now they’re even ostracizing dogs," "These gatherings aren’t about loving dogs but about owners showing off," and "Dump that group. Discriminating against dogs is ridiculous."
