Suwon Mayor Lee Jae-jun is presenting the vision of the Suwon-type integrated care project at the roundtable meeting held on the 20th.
The city of Suwon in Gyeonggi Province will pilot the 'Suwon-type Integrated Care Project,' which provides care services to all citizens in need of care, starting in July in eight districts.
On the 20th, at the '500-Person Roundtable Discussion to Gather Citizen Opinions on the Suwon-type Integrated Care Project' held at the Suwon Convention Center, Mayor Lee Jae-jun announced the 'Vision for the Suwon-type Integrated Care Project' and stated, "We will introduce Suwon-type integrated care at the village level."
The Suwon-type Integrated Care Project creates a system centered on the village community to identify neighbors in need of care and provide them with essential care services. The main services include ▲home visits and housekeeping support ▲accompaniment support ▲psychological support ▲temporary protection, among others.
The Suwon-type Integrated Care Service is available to anyone regardless of income, assets, or age. For households with an income below 75% of the median income, integrated care staff visit the home and, if care is deemed necessary, provide up to 1 million KRW annually to cover care service costs. Households exceeding 75% of the median income can use care services with self-payment.
Suwon City trains local residents who are well acquainted with the community, such as members of the local community security council and neighborhood leaders, as 'resident leaders' of the village community to jointly identify neighbors in need of care. Residents who serve as leaders receive incentives. Additionally, residents develop customized care services needed in each district and establish a system to support neighbors requiring assistance.
The city has selected eight districts to pilot the Suwon-type Integrated Care Project starting in July this year. In 2024, one district will be additionally selected for pilot operation, and by 2025, the project will be introduced in all districts.
Mayor Lee Jae-jun expressed, "The most important thing is to ensure that no citizen is excluded from care," and added, "If citizens actively participate, the Suwon-type Integrated Care Project will become a model for care projects in local governments nationwide."
