'Gyeonggi-do as the World AI Capital'... Province to Establish Dedicated Organization by the End of This Month

'Gyeonggi-do as the World AI Capital'... Province to Establish Dedicated Organization by the End of This Month Gyeonggi Province held the Generative Artificial Intelligence Innovation Forum on the 20th at the Gyeonggi Provincial Government Auditorium.

Gyeonggi Province will organize a dedicated task force by the end of this month to integrate generative artificial intelligence (GPT) into provincial administration. Additionally, GPT will be introduced in administrative services such as AI call centers, as well as in art education and exhibitions for people with developmental disabilities. Furthermore, a fund worth 50 billion KRW will be established in the second half of this year to foster future-based industries related to GPT and other technologies.

On the 21st, Gyeonggi Province announced the 'Gyeonggi GPT Promotion Plan (Roadmap)' containing these details.

Gyeonggi GPT is a policy and system tailored to the circumstances of Gyeonggi Province that utilizes generative artificial intelligence (AI) technology to internally improve administrative efficiency and externally expand opportunities for residents and industries.

According to the promotion plan, the province will first form the 'Gyeonggi GPT Dedicated Organization (TF)' led by the First Deputy Governor of Administration and hold a full meeting by the end of this month. The dedicated organization will consist of a think tank group made up of related department heads, public institution leaders, and experts, as well as five working subcommittees: general management and support, resident opportunities, industrial opportunities, administrative innovation, and public discourse and legislation.

To expand opportunities for resident participation, the province will also promote the 'GPT Resident Creative Group' project, which provides art education using AI and facilitates the exhibition and dissemination of creative works by 15 people with developmental disabilities.

The province will launch the 'GPT Industry-Academia-Government-Research Council' and hold meetings to listen to field voices and explore policy support measures for AI industry development.

Moreover, a 'Future Growth Fund' worth 50 billion KRW will be established in the second half of this year. This fund will be used to support promising startups in future-based industries such as generative AI (GPT) and big data within the province.

In addition, GPT will be introduced for policy reports, presentation preparation, data research, and more. The province plans to actively incorporate ideas discovered through the ongoing 'GPT Proposal Contest' into administration.

To address legal improvements and social ethical issues in the AI era, the province will promote legislative research, research forums, and National Assembly discussions. Furthermore, GPT utilization education for residents, usage plans for public officials, and corporate training for businesses will be introduced.

Kim Dong-yeon, Governor of Gyeonggi Province, emphasized, "Gyeonggi GPT will be the first step to making Gyeonggi Province the global AI capital and leading South Korea to become a strong AI nation," adding, "We will also actively address issues such as job insecurity, widening gaps, and ethical controversies."
