Dongbu Construction Expands 'Smart Construction' Including Drone-Based Construction and Safety Management

Dongbu Construction announced on the 20th that it is expanding site management through advanced smart construction using drones this year. Data collection and management using drones are being conducted throughout the construction process, including design, construction, safety management, and maintenance.

The company aims to find solutions for maximizing productivity and profitability through smart construction, breaking away from the outdated image of the traditional construction industry. Furthermore, Dongbu Construction plans to significantly enhance safety this year through smart technology as it challenges three consecutive years of accident-free operations.

Based on Building Information Modeling (BIM) data, Dongbu Construction is implementing a 3D virtual construction site to identify and eliminate errors and issues that may occur on-site in advance, thereby improving the stability of construction quality. Utilizing BIM allows for designing structures in a three-dimensional digital virtual space, making it easier to design and construct irregular and complex structures. Additionally, the company explained that simulations of high-risk heavy equipment operations are highly effective in preventing safety accidents.

In terms of maintenance and quality control, drones are used to capture the exterior of buildings to identify cracks and other issues in advance, minimizing risks. Drones can easily reach areas that are difficult for on-site workers to access and can detect even minute details that are hard to observe with the naked eye. Therefore, Dongbu Construction expects high effectiveness in securing quality and managing worker safety. Moreover, drones are utilized in various fields such as disaster prevention and safety inspections through site terrain imaging, and calculating construction quantities through survey data analysis.
