A is accused of kicking his girlfriend B (24) and assaulting her with a bag and a soju bottle, causing injuries requiring six weeks of medical treatment, during an argument on August 23 last year at a motel in Gyeongsan, Gyeongbuk, where B tried to stop him from gambling online using his mobile phone.

He is also charged with holding a grudge after B reported to the police at the motel, luring her out, assaulting her inside a car, and confining her in the vehicle for about an hour and 30 minutes. Additionally, he sent a total of 239 messages or attempted calls via SNS over 11 days to B, who wanted to break up.

Separately, it was revealed that A rented a foreign car but did not return it, used it as collateral for debt, and fraudulently received about 66 million won in business support funds from the Youth Startup Academy of the Small and Medium Business Corporation.

The court stated the sentencing reasons, saying, “The defendant caused physical and mental suffering to the victim through assault, confinement, and stalking, and has not been forgiven by the victim. He also did not repay damages from other crimes such as embezzlement and fraudulent receipt of subsidies.”
