Jeon Seung-il, a member of the Gwangju Seo-gu Council, announced on the 20th that he pointed out issues related to Yangdong Administrative Welfare Center, Garomihwa Workers Welfare Center, and Yang 1-dong Senior Citizens' Center within the Yangdong 3 District Housing Redevelopment Project area during the third plenary session of the 310th extraordinary meeting through inquiries about district administration.
Councilor Jeon criticized the district office officials for failing to secure an alternative site despite going through a total of four consultations and meetings: two consultations on the handling of national and public land assets and two meetings of the Urban Planning Committee.
He also inquired about the progress of the TF team formation, the possibility of commercial occupancy, the reasons for cash settlement, and the final appraisal schedule of Seo-gu Office property, which he had requested during the 5-minute free speech at the 309th extraordinary meeting.
Furthermore, in his supplementary questions, Councilor Jeon pointed out the incorrect response during the district administration inquiry that the sale was decided as a condition for securing an alternative site. He also explained the budget required and issues arising when moving into commercial premises, repeatedly urging the securing of an alternative site.
Councilor Jeon stated, "Since 2007, while carrying out the redevelopment project, this situation has occurred due to Seo-gu Office’s siloed administration without interdepartmental communication and passive administration focused on avoiding responsibility." He reiterated, "Seo-gu Office departments must unite as one."
As a local district councilor, Jeon concluded his inquiry by stating, "I will do my best to play a pivotal role in ensuring the smooth promotion of the new construction of Yangdong Administrative Welfare Center."
