Gokseong-gun Successfully Concludes Dialogue with Residents

County Governor Sangcheol Lee Tours Towns and Townships to Communicate with Residents

Gokseong-gun, Jeollanam-do (Governor Lee Sang-cheol) announced that the first dialogue with residents in the 8th local government term was successfully concluded.

Governor Lee Sang-cheol started on the 13th from Gokseong-eup and toured 11 towns and townships to explain the 2023 county administration direction to the residents.

The event served as an open communication platform to collect residents' opinions on county administration and listen to their suggestions, receiving great responses.

During this dialogue with residents, there were Q&A sessions regarding local issues that many residents were curious about, including ▲ Gokseong-gun waste treatment facility installation project ▲ reactivation of the waste factory located in Gyeom-myeon ▲ construction of the Gokseong wind power plant ▲ establishment of the Gokseong-gun abandoned animal protection center ▲ development project of the Ungok specialized agricultural and industrial complex.

Additionally, over 180 policy proposals and suggestions were received, such as ▲ policy proposals to attract young population ▲ requests to create the Okgwa area tourism belt ▲ requests for measures against drought during the farming season ▲ requests for maintenance of drainage canals and small streams.

Governor Lee Sang-cheol carefully responded to each question raised on site. He also instructed the relevant department heads to positively review the residents’ policy proposals and suggestions to ensure no disruption to residents’ lives and safety, and to promptly address urgent matters.

For matters requiring mid- to long-term planning, he directed that the proposers be informed in advance and that continuous management be maintained until completion.

A resident who participated in the event said, “It is meaningful to participate in the dialogue with residents event held for the first time in four years due to COVID-19. Seeing the governor and the responsible department heads attend together to collect suggestions and answer questions showed sincerity in the development of county administration.”

Governor Lee Sang-cheol stated, “To realize the goal of the 8th local government term of making Gokseong a happier place for residents, I will always keep my original intention, listen carefully to even the smallest voices of residents, and implement communication administration by actively visiting the field.”
