Sunchang-gun Holds 2023 Disaster Safety Management Committee Meeting

Sunchang County announced on the 20th that it held the 2023 Disaster Safety Management Committee meeting on the 17th to prevent the recurrence of accidents during the cooperative association head elections.

The meeting, held in the video conference room on the 2nd floor of the Sunchang County Office, was attended by nine heads of related organizations, including Choi Young-il, the governor of Sunchang County, the chief of Sunchang Police Station, the chief of Sunchang Fire Station, the commander of the 3rd Battalion of the 7733rd Unit, the superintendent of Sunchang Education Office, the head of Korea Electric Power Corporation’s Sunchang branch, and the head of the Sunchang branch of the National Agricultural Cooperative Federation.

The main agenda items of the Disaster Safety Management Committee included ▲ the 2023 Sunchang County Safety Management Plan (draft), ▲ the 2022 Sunchang County Disaster Management Status Disclosure (draft), and ▲ the safety management plan (draft) for the 20th Okcheongol Cherry Blossom Festival. The committee reviewed the appropriateness of these three items and held in-depth discussions on mutual cooperation among related organizations regarding overall safety management in Sunchang County.

In particular, the committee decided to establish detailed safety management plans such as the deployment of safety personnel, maintenance of visitor movement routes, and emergency evacuation measures, as a large crowd is expected to gather at the 20th Okcheongol Cherry Blossom Festival starting on the 30th, to protect the safety of residents from various accidents.

A Sunchang County official stated, “No matter how much emphasis is placed on safety preparedness, it is never too much,” and urged, “We hope that all events held in Sunchang County this year will be managed with utmost care to prevent any accidents.”
