Delta Air Lines 진행 건축 자재 운반 및 페인트 작업
Korean Air announced on the 20th that on the 17th, it conducted a housing repair volunteer activity in Calauan, Philippines, together with Delta Air Lines employees to provide homes for neighbors living in poor housing conditions.
This volunteer activity by Korean Air is part of its global social contribution efforts to walk warmly with local communities. It has been continuously ongoing since October 2013, starting in the Quezon area of Manila. This event involved Delta Air Lines, which has maintained a joint cooperative relationship with Korean Air since signing a joint venture agreement with the local nonprofit organization 'Habitat for Humanity Philippines,' which provides housing facilities for homeless people.
Calauan in Laguna Province, Philippines, is home to a resettlement village of about 650 households for low-income families who lost their homes due to Typhoon Ondoy in 2009. Still, about 110 households have not moved in due to poor housing conditions and are waiting for help.
On that day, employees of Korean Air and Delta Air Lines directly participated in the housing repair work site, sweating as they volunteered in carrying construction materials, painting exterior walls, carpentry work, and window repairs.
Lee Cheol, head of Korean Air’s Philippines branch, said, “Korean Air has been cooperating with Habitat since 2013, and especially this event is meaningful as it is the first time participating together with Delta Air Lines employees on the 5th anniversary of the joint venture establishment.” He added, “The Philippines is one of the very important markets in Southeast Asia, and through the joint venture partnership with Delta Air Lines, Korean Air aims to give back to the communities where we work beyond just business.”
Yokosawa Akinori, Delta Air Lines Southeast Asia Sales Manager, also said, “Through the joint venture partnership, Delta Air Lines and Korean Air are committed not only to providing services such as codeshare flights and convenient transfers but also to social contributions by employees. We feel a great sense of fulfillment in conducting social contribution activities together for the first time in the Philippines.”
Meanwhile, Korean Air signed a joint venture agreement with Delta Air Lines in 2018. Since then, they have continued joint social contribution activities befitting the stature of global airlines, including volunteer activities building homes of love in Los Angeles, USA, and tree-planting events to combat desertification near Kubuqi, China, and Baganuur, Mongolia.
