Gaon Media, First in Korea to Receive EcoVadis 'Sustainability Leadership Award'

Gaon Media (CEO Lim Dong-yeon), a total AI solution specialist company, announced on the 20th that it received the ‘Best Performers’ award at EcoVadis’ Sustainability Leadership Awards 2023.

EcoVadis, headquartered in France, is a global ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) rating agency whose platform is used by more than 100,000 companies across 175 countries worldwide. Since 2017, it has held award ceremonies to honor companies with the highest scores, and this is the first time a Korean company has received such an award.

Gaon Media earned the honor at the ceremony held on the 13th by achieving the highest score in the medium and small enterprise category for the Asia, Middle East, and Africa region. This recognition was based on last year’s EcoVadis evaluation, where the company was awarded the Platinum rating, the highest grade given to the top 1% of companies. The company received balanced scores across four evaluation categories based on international standards: Environment, Labor & Human Rights, Social, and Supply Chain.

A company representative stated, “This achievement reflects our swift adoption of ESG management to compete with large global players,” adding, “We will continue to expand various activities to enhance the company’s future value.”

Having promoted ESG management early on, Gaon Media joined the UN Global Compact (UNGC) last year and plans to publish a Communication on Progress (COP) report this year to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Additionally, the company announced plans to complete its registration with the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP) within the year.

Meanwhile, Gaon Media, which is expanding its portfolio through subsidiaries in robot integration platforms, XR solutions, and network businesses, plans to change its corporate name to ‘Gaon Group’ at the regular shareholders’ meeting scheduled for March 24. Furthermore, it will propose and resolve agenda items to establish bylaws for interim dividends and stock dividends to expand shareholder return policies.
