Changwon Special City Implements Flexible Traffic Control
Changwon Special City in Gyeongnam urged tourists and citizens to use the free shuttle buses during the Jinhae Gunhangje Festival period.
This is because a concentration of weekend spring visitors is expected.
Accordingly, the city will implement traffic control in two locations around Anmin Tunnel, one location around Jangbok Tunnel, and one location around Jinhae-gu Office during weekends of the festival period when vehicle congestion begins.
Vehicles heading toward Anmin Tunnel can park at Gongdan-ro (3,500 spaces), vehicles heading toward Jangbok Tunnel can park at Doosan Volvo-ro (3,000 spaces), and vehicles coming from Jinhae Yongwon can park at Jangcheon 2nd Pier (1,000 spaces) and use the free shuttle buses.
To reduce confusion among tourists with shuttle buses operating from three directions, the shuttle bus from Gongdan-ro (Anmin Tunnel) is called the Blue Line, the bus from Doosan Volvo-ro (Jangbok Tunnel) is called the Yellow Line, and the bus from Jangcheon 2nd Pier is called the Red Line. When returning from major tourist sites, passengers should board the shuttle bus of the same color line.
Additionally, for convenience of movement within the city, temporary city buses circulating from the terminal at Inui-dong to Jinhaeru (Navy Education Command main gate), Gyeonghwa Station, and Bukwon Rotary will operate 16 buses on weekends (at 15-minute intervals). City buses running between the Naval Academy (3 buses on weekdays, 8 on weekends) and the Naval Base Command (1 bus on weekdays, 2 on weekends) will also operate, with fares charged (cash 1,500 KRW, transportation card 1,450 KRW). A free tourist bus running between Changwon Central Station and Bukwon Rotary will also operate 10 times on weekends.
Lee Seung-ryong, Director of the Transportation and Construction Bureau, said, “Since this year’s Jinhae Gunhangje Festival is being held for the first time in four years, severe vehicle congestion is expected. We ask those using private cars on weekends to park at temporary parking lots near the control points and use the free shuttle buses.”
