Democratic Party's Final Ultimatum to the Legislation and Judiciary Committee and Justice Party for 'Double Special Prosecutor'... 'Fast Track if Not Processed by the 21st'

The Democratic Party of Korea has expressed its intention to push for the designation of the '50 Billion Club and Kim Geon-hee Special Prosecutor Act' as a fast-track bill if it is not processed at the National Assembly's Legislation and Judiciary Committee scheduled for the 21st. This is a final ultimatum to the Justice Party, which had insisted on following the general procedures of the Legislation and Judiciary Committee and the relevant standing committee.

Park Hong-geun, the floor leader of the Democratic Party, pressured at the highest council meeting held at the National Assembly on the 20th, saying, "The full meeting of the Legislation and Judiciary Committee is scheduled for tomorrow," and "The processing of the '50 Billion Club and Kim Geon-hee Special Prosecutor Act,' demanded by the public, must be agreed upon."

He said, "We have been demanding the processing by the Legislation and Judiciary Committee for ten days, but the People Power Party remains immovable," adding, "The Democratic Party will patiently strive for a processing agreement until tomorrow's Legislation and Judiciary Committee meeting. However, if the People Power Party ultimately refuses to review and obstructs, there is no other way." Floor leader Park stated, "If there is no progress in tomorrow's Legislation and Judiciary Committee, the Democratic Party will proceed with the 50 Billion Club special prosecutor and Kim Geon-hee special prosecutor according to the National Assembly Act procedures."

They plan to follow procedures such as fast-track designation after observing the results of the full meeting of the Legislation and Judiciary Committee on the 21st.

They also requested the Justice Party to join the fast-track if the processing in the Legislation and Judiciary Committee fails. Floor leader Park said, "If the Justice Party truly has the will to uncover the truth through a special prosecutor, we strongly urge them to make a clear decision to promote the special prosecutor after tomorrow's Legislation and Judiciary Committee results."
