Donation of Supplies to Children at Local Community Centers
"Expanding Donation Destinations to Organizations Supporting Disabled and Elderly
and Diversifying Methods of Delivering Donations Such as Medical Expenses"
SK Happiness Sharing Foundation, led by Chairman Choi Ki-won, the younger brother of SK Group Chairman Choi Tae-won, announced on the 20th that the cumulative amount of 'Gotjang Donation' has surpassed 1 billion KRW. This is double the amount achieved just 8 months after reaching 500 million KRW in cumulative donations.
Now in its fourth year since launch, Gotjang Donation delivers 100% of the donations made by donors without any deductions. Unlike cash donations, the donations are made in the form of shopping baskets filled with items chosen by children at local community centers.
To demonstrate that all donations are delivered directly to the children, SK Happiness Sharing Foundation maximized transparency by utilizing an open market delivery system. Donors receive detailed updates on the donation process through Gotjang Donation KakaoTalk notifications, including receipts and delivery details. Aside from the purchase of items, all payment fees, shipping costs, price increases, and operational expenses are fully covered by the Happiness Sharing Foundation.
As of the 17th, a total of 7,893 donors have practiced precious sharing through Gotjang Donation, delivering 1,923 shopping baskets to 59,739 children in need. The cumulative expenses borne by SK Happiness Sharing Foundation for this effort amount to approximately 86.31 million KRW.

Started in 2020, Gotjang Donation surpassed 250 million KRW in cumulative donations in its second year, 2021, and exceeded 500 million KRW last July. The total cumulative amount received through Gotjang Donation up to last year reached 750 million KRW, of which 500 million KRW was raised in 2022 alone.
This year, it achieved 250 million KRW?half of last year’s total?in just three months, and is expected to break the record for the highest annual donation amount ever.
Recently, many donors have been waiting for new donation boxes to open. In response, since January this year, notifications for donation box openings have been available for subscription. Donation boxes worth an average of 3 million KRW per day are quickly closing.
In addition, various organizations such as the sanitary pad brand ‘Happy Monday,’ singer Lim Young-woong’s fan club ‘Hero Era,’ and the toy brand ‘Lego Korea’ have delivered warm hearts to children through Gotjang Donation.
This year, Gotjang Donation plans to expand its donation recipients beyond local community centers, single-parent families, and orphanages to include organizations supporting people with disabilities and the elderly. Furthermore, it is preparing to provide partial medical expense support to neighbors in need, going beyond item donations supported by receipt verification.
Park Eun-sil, manager of the Gotjang Donation team at SK Happiness Sharing Foundation, said, “When I saw someone waiting for the donation box for youth preparing for independence open and then purchasing several shopping baskets worth about 10 million KRW at once, I felt proud that Gotjang Donation is providing donors with a new donation experience.”
She added, “In the second half of this year, we plan to register with the Ministry of the Interior and Safety as the 27th domestic organization to raise over 1 billion KRW annually in accordance with the ‘Act on the Collection and Use of Donations.’”
