Mary Barra, Chairwoman of General Motors in the United States, is confident that the new Trax crossover, soon to be launched domestically, will also gain popularity in Korea.
Chairwoman Barra said, "The Trax crossover, which I experienced firsthand, is a vehicle that brings the joy of driving," adding, "It offers a reasonable price, excellent safety features, and outstanding fuel efficiency."
This vehicle is produced at GM's Korean factory and exported worldwide. It was first unveiled in North America last October. In Korea, it is scheduled for release later this month. Chairwoman Barra emphasized, "There is already tremendous demand and enthusiastic customer response in the U.S. market, and I am confident it will be the same in Korea," adding, "This is the result of close cooperation between our GM teams in Korea and the U.S., and this is just the beginning."
The new model is responsible for the crossover segment in GM's global vehicle portfolio. As the company tightens its electrification efforts at the corporate level, it is considered one of the models driving the company's performance. The first shipment of about 6,000 units left Korea last month.
At the North American launch event last year, Scott Bell, Vice President of Chevrolet, described it as "an entry-level vehicle that will surprise and delight customers with more space, more features, and more style," adding, "It plays an important role as the gateway into the Chevrolet brand."
A video message from Mary Barra will be unveiled at the new car launch event to be held on the morning of the 22nd at KINTEX in Goyang, Gyeonggi Province. Chevrolet will hold the new car launch event at a venue designed to resemble Jefferson Avenue in Detroit, U.S., where GM headquarters is located.
