Sejong City announced on the 21st that it will renovate the Sejong Central Park rose garden by next month. The renovation is being carried out to expand the garden infrastructure in preparation for the ‘2023 Sejong Garden Show’ to be held in May and the 2025 International Garden City Expo.

The city held a ‘Rose Garden Renewal Contest’ from January to February to select garden designs and lay the foundation for the reorganization of the rose garden.

The selected garden design, titled ‘Dear Sejong,’ is characterized by expressing seven themes in Sejong’s unique colors. It also captures the colors of ‘Monet’s Garden’ located in Giverny, Paris, France, using Korean roses and plants.

Based on this, the city plans to create the rose garden by mixing rose family plants and native plants under themes such as ▲Korean Rose Garden ▲Monet’s Rose Garden ▲Prunus Forest Garden ▲Rose Road ▲Sejong Road.

After the renovation is completed, following a maintenance period for the planted roses, the rose garden will be opened to citizens on the day of the 2023 Sejong Garden Show.

The city expects this renovation to spread garden culture in Sejong, provide a foundation for the growth of the local garden industry, and become a major garden tourism resource in the garden city of Sejong.

Meanwhile, from May 18 to 21, the ‘2023 Sejong Garden Show’ will be held at Sejong Central Park. Along with the rose garden exhibition, a garden market operated by local producers and various garden experience programs will be available.
