LG Electronics Participates in Global Smart Home Standards Meeting... "Making ThinQ as Common as Air"

CSA Regular Meeting Unveils 'ThinkQ' Vision
First Member Meeting Since 'Matter' 1.0 Announcement

LG Electronics will participate in the regular meeting of the global standards alliance CSA Smart Home Standard members and present the business vision of its platform 'LG ThinQ.' They stated their goal is to make ThinQ as ubiquitous as air, creating a world where customers can control home appliances according to their lifestyle anywhere?at home, work, or vacation spots.

LG Electronics announced that it will attend the CSA regular meeting held for four days starting from the 20th at the Conrad Hotel in Seoul.

LG Electronics is the chair company of CSA. CSA invites 134 member companies including LG Electronics, Samsung Electronics, Google, Apple, Amazon, and more than 500 members to hold private discussions on Matter (smart home communication standard) and privacy. This is the first member meeting since the announcement of Matter 1.0 last October.

LG Electronics said the core values of ThinQ are 'evolution, connection, and openness.' It monitors and adjusts the entire home's energy usage in real-time to save energy automatically. When customers purchase new devices, existing LG appliances automatically recognize and link them to ThinQ. Applying ThinQ in the B2B (business-to-business) sector can create a future where air conditioners in offices, vacation accommodations, and other places automatically set temperature and airflow without separate operation.

Jung Ki-hyun, Vice President and Head of LG Electronics Platform Business Center, said, "In the near future, ThinQ will create the best smart home environment tailored to each customer's characteristics," adding, "It will evolve into a smart companion that takes care of me at home, work, and vacation spots."

They plan to maximize the utilization of artificial intelligence (AI). LG Electronics intends to advance ThinQ's 'ambient computing' technology. This technology is an intelligent solution where next-generation AI proposes and performs specific tasks for customers.

LG Electronics revealed that it is considering applying AI chatbot services and AI-based voice technologies to ThinQ. ThinQ can also control other devices. This means IoT devices such as Apple HomeKit, Akira, HeyHome, and Matter-certified devices can be connected and used with ThinQ.

Not only ThinQ but also the smart TV platform 'webOS23' has received Matter certification. They have made it possible to use multiple devices anytime and anywhere centered on LG TVs equipped with webOS 23. ThinQ also supports AI platforms like Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa. It is linked with Google Calendar (schedules), third-party apps (notes, weather), T map (traffic), and connected car services from Hyundai and Kia (vehicles).

Vice President Jung said, "LG Electronics is creating the era of 'ambient computing,'" adding, "We will continuously evolve ThinQ with AI and provide a differentiated smart home experience by connecting with the IoT ecosystem through Matter."
