Final Round of PGA Tour Valspar Championship
Schenk 2nd, Spieth and Fleetwood Tied for 3rd
This is Lee Kyung-hoon's strong finish.
On the 20th (Korean time), Lee Kyung-hoon surged with a 5-under-par 66 in the final 4th round of the PGA Tour Valspar Championship (total prize money $8.1 million) held at the Copperhead Course of Innisbrook Resort in Palm Harbor, Florida, USA (par 71, 7,340 yards), climbing to a tie for 19th place (1-under-par 283). Although he failed to enter the 'top 10' for the third time this season, it was an impressive performance, moving up 49 spots from a tie for 68th the previous day.
Lee Kyung-hoon scored 5 under par in the final 4th round of the Valspar Championship and finished tied for 19th place.
Lee Kyung-hoon recorded 7 birdies and 2 bogeys. On 10 holes, he exchanged 2 birdies for 2 bogeys, struggling to reduce his score. After changing the momentum with a birdie on the 11th hole (par 5), he fired three consecutive birdies from the 13th to 15th holes, followed by an exciting birdie on the final 18th hole (par 4). His 'pinpoint iron shots' with a green hit rate of 77.78% and 'stingy putting' averaging 1.571 putts per hole were outstanding. This performance completely wiped away the disappointment of missing the cut at last week's 'fifth major,' The Players Championship.
Taylor Moore (USA) shot a 4-under-par 67 to secure a one-stroke come-from-behind victory (10-under-par 274). This was his first win in 46 tournaments since debuting on the PGA Tour last year, earning a winner's prize of $1,458,000 (approximately 1.9 billion KRW). Adam Schenk finished second (9-under-par 275), while Jordan Spieth (both USA) and Tommy Fleetwood (England) tied for third (8-under-par 276).
Sam Burns (USA), who was aiming for a third consecutive tournament win, fought hard by reducing 4 strokes but finished 6th (5-under-par 279). Justin Thomas (USA) tied for 10th (3-under-par 281). From Korea, An Byeong-hun lost 3 strokes and dropped from a tie for 25th to a tie for 45th (2-over-par 286). Rookie Kim Seong-hyun is in the same group.
