From March 23 to 25, a variety of programs will be held over three days at Eungbongsan, filled with the scent of spring

Well-prepared with a pre-ceremony performance, forsythia seedling planting, family writing contest, and food market operation

The Eungbongsan Festival, where the most beautiful forsythia flowers in Seoul bloom, will be held in Seongdong-gu.

Seongdong-gu (Mayor Jeong Wono) announced that it will hold the ‘2023 Eungbongsan Forsythia Festival’ for three days from March 23 to 25.

Under the festival slogan, “The village where spring comes first in Seoul,” various programs will be held, including ▲environmental programs ▲experience programs ▲family writing and drawing contests ▲celebratory concerts, forsythia photo zones, and food market operations.

On the first day of the festival, March 23, the event will begin with a pre-ceremony performance by the mixed duo group Neurubyeol and Seoul’s representative B-boy crew, Gambler Crew, followed by activities such as writing environmental messages and planting forsythia seedlings. About 100 residents, recruited through prior registration, will join forces to protect the beautiful Eungbongsan by planting forsythia seedlings together.

On the second day, various attractions such as forsythia photo zones, experience programs, and food markets will be held around Eungbongsan. On the last day of the festival, April 1, a writing and drawing contest will be held along with pre-performances by the district’s Dream Orchestra and boys’ and girls’ choir.

Those who wish to participate in the writing and drawing contests can apply online in advance on the Seongdong-gu website or register on-site on the day of the event. Those who want to volunteer can contact the Seongdong-gu Volunteer Center by phone.

A district official said, “To ensure smooth festival progress, vehicle traffic on the Eungbongsan trails will be restricted during the event period, so festival participants are asked to use public transportation or walk.”

Jeong Wono, Mayor of Seongdong-gu, said, “This is the largest event held in Seongdong-gu since the recovery of daily life. As the forsythia festival is being held face-to-face for the first time in four years since 2019, we have prepared a fulfilling three-day festival, so please come with your family and fully enjoy the spring.”

Jungnang-gu cultivates professional volunteers to share joy in the community through balloon art

From the 20th, recruiting 20 participants on a first-come, first-served basis for balloon art professional volunteer training

Any Jungnang-gu resident who can volunteer for more than one year can apply; apply by visiting Jungnang-gu Volunteer Center or via email

After two months of training, a directly managed volunteer group will be formed to perform balloon art volunteer activities at local events

Jungnang-gu (Mayor Ryu Kyung-gi) is recruiting residents to become professional balloon art volunteers starting from the 20th.

The district is recruiting participants from the 20th for residents with enthusiasm and talent for volunteering, and will conduct two months of balloon art professional volunteer training starting in April. After the training, a directly managed volunteer group will be formed to carry out balloon art volunteer activities throughout the community.

The ‘Balloon Art Professional Volunteer Training’ is designed to discover new volunteers interested in specialized volunteer activities and to enable residents to engage more actively in the community by performing balloon art volunteer work at local events.

Recruitment starts on March 20 on a first-come, first-served basis, with a total of 20 participants. Any resident of Jungnang-gu who can volunteer for at least one year after completing the training can apply. Interested residents can apply by visiting the Jungnang-gu Volunteer Center or by email.

The training will be held every Tuesday from April 11 to May 30 over eight weeks. Participants will learn balloon art from basic to advanced levels from a professional balloon art instructor. Materials and training fees are free.

Participants must attend at least five of the eight classes to be recognized as having completed the training. After completion, they will be active as the third group of the directly managed volunteer team ‘L&B (Love & Balloon) Volunteer Team.’ The volunteer team will hold balloon distribution events at local festivals such as the Yongma Falls Culture and Arts Festival and provide visiting balloon art education volunteer services at local children’s facilities and welfare centers, bringing joy to residents.

Ryu Kyung-gi, Mayor of Jungnang-gu, said, “The professional volunteer training is a meaningful activity that allows residents to develop new skills, share those skills with the community, and continue warm-hearted practices. We ask for the active participation of interested residents. We will continue to prepare various volunteer programs that more residents can participate in and strive to make Jungnang-gu a warmer community.”

The district has been making efforts to provide distinctive professional volunteer training programs every year. Last year, it operated a storytelling professional volunteer training program and formed a volunteer team that performed storytelling volunteer activities at local children’s facilities.
