Sancheong-gun, Education Benefits Paid via Voucher Instead of Cash

Reform of the Ministry of Education's Educational Activity Support Fund

Sancheong-gun, Gyeongnam Province announced on the 20th that the method of providing education benefits will change from cash to vouchers starting this year.

This measure follows the Ministry of Education's reform of the payment method for education activity support funds under education benefits.

Until now, education benefits were paid in cash, but they have been changed to vouchers to allow recipients to focus on various educational activities.

The support targets are households with an income recognition amount at or below 50% of the median income, and education activity support funds will be provided differentially per student according to the elementary, middle, and high school system for education benefit recipients within the region.

Elementary school students will receive 415,000 KRW, middle school students 589,000 KRW, and high school students 654,000 KRW, provided once annually.

In particular, since the payment method changes to vouchers starting this year, students aged 14 or older or their parents must apply.

Existing education benefit recipients can apply after identity verification on the education benefit voucher website.

Those receiving support for the first time this year, such as elementary school entrants, can apply by visiting their local eup/myeon office or through the Bokjiro or Education Expense One-Click websites.

For further details, inquiries can be made to the local eup/myeon office, the respective school, or the Korea Student Aid Foundation call center.

A county official stated, “We will actively promote the changed payment method this year to ensure that no one misses out on benefits due to failure to apply,” and added, “We will thoroughly operate the program to alleviate the educational expenses burden on parents even a little.”
