Expectations for Regional Economic Revitalization through Tourist Attraction
Geochang-gun, Gyeongnam Province, announced on the 20th that it has been selected as the representative of Gyeongsangnam-do for the 2023 Digital Tourism Resident Card contest project.
Along with the selection of Geochang Changpowyun as a small-scale potential tourist destination, the county plans to further accelerate the revitalization of the tourism industry by being selected as a target site for the Digital Tourism Resident Card project.
The Digital Tourism Resident Card is a project led by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Korea Tourism Organization aimed at increasing the resident population in areas experiencing population decline through local tourism to contribute to economic revitalization. The service will be officially provided starting in June.
By issuing a Digital Tourism Resident Card through the ‘Korea Travel Easy’ mobile application, travelers can use QR codes to receive various travel convenience facility and experience event discounts, including accommodations, food and beverages, and activities.
The county plans to offer various discounts at four tourist sites, sixteen experience facilities, and fifteen accommodation and food and beverage establishments for travelers who have obtained the Digital Tourism Resident Card. They also plan to invigorate the project through active promotion such as discovering additional participating businesses, Instagram events, and various advertisements.
County Governor Gu In-mo said, “We are very pleased that Geochang-gun has been selected as the representative of Gyeongsangnam-do for the Digital Tourism Resident Card contest project,” and added, “We hope this project will attract many tourists and revitalize the local economy.”
