Kim Ki-hyun: "Blind Anti-Japan Only Causes Losses"
On the 19th, the People Power Party actively responded against the Democratic Party of Korea and its leader Lee Jae-myung, who harshly criticized the Korea-Japan summit.
On the same day, Chief Spokesperson Kang Min-kook issued a statement saying, "Leader Lee has been criticizing the Yoon Seok-yeol administration's forced labor solution and diplomacy with Japan day after day, mentioning 'the Self-Defense Forces' military boots,'" and added, "There is no logical criticism to be found even if you look closely; it is solely an emotional appeal filled with 'Jukchangga' (death song)."
Chief Spokesperson Kang emphasized, "South Korea is experiencing an unprecedented crisis amid the reshaping world order, compounded by North Korea's nuclear threat. The economy is also facing difficulties as if walking on thin ice," and continued, "The Yoon administration is attempting to overcome this international situation through a strong Korea-US alliance and normalization of Korea-Japan relations." He added, "The first step has now been taken, and although the path is difficult, it is a road that must be taken for the national interest." He then criticized Leader Lee for opposing the government's diplomacy with Japan, saying, "He is trying to politicize the issue by exploiting the public's anti-Japanese sentiment."
He stated, "He is trying to use this politicization as another shield to defend his judicial risks," and warned, "If he does not want to be recorded in South Korean political history as a great man who sold out the Democratic Party and even the national interest for his own protection, he should sincerely face his trials."
Chief Spokesperson Kang pointed out, "Currently, the allegations of election law violations are under trial, and local corruption cases such as the Daejang-dong development project and illegal donations to Seongnam FC are under prosecution and investigation by the prosecution. In addition, there are corruption allegations including the payment of attorney fees and the Ssangbangwool North Korea remittance case, which amount to a comprehensive set," and questioned, "Then why is he pretending to be a patriot?"
On the same day, People Power Party leader Kim Ki-hyun also criticized on Facebook, saying, "It is simply lamentable that the Democratic Party still clings to the late Joseon-era style 'Jukchangga' and engages in anti-Japanese agitation like 'conservative hardliners.'"
Leader Kim said, "Despite the flow of international affairs, Leader Lee and the Democratic Party's irresponsible domestic political 'shut up and be anti-Japanese' behavior, which goes against this trend, only causes damage to the national interest," and urged, "Please stop pouring cold water on the bold and magnanimous decisions of the Yoon Seok-yeol government for the future."
