A former university lecturer in his 30s from Daegu was sentenced to imprisonment for forcibly molesting male students.
On the 19th, Lee Young-sook, chief judge of the 8th Criminal Division at Daegu District Court, sentenced former university lecturer A (39), who was charged with stalking and physical contact with male students (forcible molestation, etc.), to 10 months in prison and ordered his immediate detention, according to Yonhap News.
The court also ordered A to complete a 40-hour sexual violence and stalking treatment program.
In June 2020, A told B (then a high school student) at a cafe in Jung-gu, Daegu, "I am homosexual, and I like handsome and young men like you. I love you as a sexual object."
After A's confession, B expressed refusal, saying, "Do not contact me anymore."
Despite this, A's obsession continued. He sent B 32 text messages containing phrases such as "I like you more than anything in the world" and "I was honestly too scared to speak."
A also persistently requested meetings through SNS, saying things like "I only see you and think of you."
A said he wanted to hear B's voice and moved between several public phones, telling B, "I love you. I miss you."
B eventually reported A to the police, and the court ordered A to "stop stalking and not approach within 100 meters."
A is also accused of forcibly molesting C, a student he met the same year, by visiting C's home, revealing he was homosexual, and touching C's thigh and cheek.
C also refused to meet, but A continued to contact him via public phones.
A caused a disturbance in front of the building where C was working as an intern, saying, "I want to spend time with you."
A claimed, "The victims expressed affection first," and insisted, "I am innocent."
The court stated, "The victims' testimonies are consistent and not contradictory," and explained the sentencing by considering "the significant mental suffering of the victims and the unforgivable nature of the acts."
