Yoon Kyung-hee, the governor of Cheongsong-gun, Gyeongbuk, participated in the ‘Wildfire Prevention Campaign On-site Relay Challenge’ on the 17th along with about 100 wildfire suppression team members and others.

This challenge is being conducted during the spring season, when the risk of wildfires is highest, to raise awareness among residents about the dangers of wildfire occurrence and to provide guidance on various prohibitions including the ban on open burning and carrying fire sources within forests when entering.


The county has designated and is operating a ‘Special Wildfire Countermeasure Period’ until April 30 to ensure ‘full-scale response to wildfire prevention and situation management.’ In line with the escalation of the national crisis alert level for wildfire disasters and the administrative order issued by the Governor of Gyeongbuk Province banning open burning within the province, the county is taking measures to prevent and suppress large-scale wildfires.


Accordingly, during the Special Wildfire Countermeasure Period, the county will strengthen guidance activities by implementing emergency duty for more than one-quarter of employees in each department in accordance with the “Severe” level of the national crisis alert for wildfire disasters. In particular, it will intensify crackdowns on open burning and apply a zero-tolerance policy to violators of the Forest Protection Act, focusing all efforts on preemptively blocking wildfire causes.


Governor Yoon Kyung-hee urged, “Since Cheongsong-gun is a premium forest city with about 82% forest coverage, let us, the public and private sectors together, protect ‘Oxygen Cafe Cheongsong-gun’ during this dry season.”
